Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund Governance
The following members serve as Officers and Directors Board of Directors of the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund. The Board is made up of 9 members from fraternal organizations within the Toronto Police Service and may appoint up to 3 additional, knowledge based members. The WOF was instituted in May of 1952 and is regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario and The Insurance Act, Section XII, Fraternal Benefit Societies.

The Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund was incorporated in 1952 as the first formal insurance program for police officers in Canada. Executive members of the Toronto Police Amateur Athletic Association developed the concept to replace the voluntary contributions made by fellow officers when a member died.
The Fund prides itself on being the first to respond in providing support to the family of the member at the time of need and is often called upon to for immediate financial support.
Current benefits include:
Death Benefit
Active Member Death Benefits $38,200
Retired Member Death Benefits $17,900*
In the line of Duty Death $76,400
*pro-rated if certain conditions are not met.
All death benefits are currently eligible for an additional 20% investment performance bonus.
Retirement Refund of Dues $2900.00*
*pro-rated if certain conditions are not met
Will Reimbursement $100.00 per member

It is important that your Designated Beneficiary Cards are current. Use the cards here to update your beneficiary cards.
Be sure to change all of your beneficiary cards through the Police Service, Toronto Police Association and your pension plan.
The Pink Card is your primary beneficiary designation.
The White Card is your alternate beneficiary designation should your primary designation pass away before you.
